Terms of Use

Please read these terms before using CodClimb.

Last updated: June 2, 2026 · version 1.2.0

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the CodClimb iOS application ("App") or visiting codclimb.com ("Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App or Site.

CodClimb is operated by Runcheng Li ("we," "us," or "our"), an individual developer based in the United States.

2. Description of Service

CodClimb provides live climbability scores and weather-based condition information for outdoor climbing areas ("crags") across the United States. Scores are derived from third-party weather data and our proprietary scoring algorithm. The App also includes community features that allow registered users to post condition reports, photos, and comments, an optional Trip Planner, and optional score, trip, and short-range rain ("nowcast") notifications.

3. Weather Data Accuracy & Safety Disclaimer

CodClimb scores and forecasts are informational only. Weather data is sourced from Open-Meteo, a third-party service. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any weather data or climbability score.

Climbing is an inherently dangerous activity. You are solely responsible for:

Do not rely solely on CodClimb scores to make safety decisions. Always use your own judgment and verify conditions in person.

Assumption of risk. By using CodClimb, you acknowledge that rock climbing, bouldering, mountaineering, and approaching and being at outdoor crags are inherently dangerous activities that can result in serious injury or death. You voluntarily and knowingly assume all risks associated with climbing and with any decision you make in reliance on, or influenced by, the App — including its scores, forecasts, condition reports, "dry refuge"/sheltered-sector suggestions, sun/shade information, and any other content. You agree that CodClimb and its developer are not responsible for any injury, death, property damage, or other loss arising from your climbing activities or your use of the App.

3a. Notifications & Alerts Are Best-Effort

Score alerts, trip briefings, and short-range rain "nowcast" alerts are provided on a best-effort basis only. They depend on third-party weather data, third-party push-delivery services, and a working network connection, and they may be delayed, inaccurate, or fail to arrive entirely — for example, where your device has no cell signal, which is common at remote crags. Sudden, localized ("pop-up") weather can occur with little or no warning and may not be predicted or detected at all. Never rely on the presence or absence of an alert to decide whether it is safe to climb, stay, or leave. The only reliable source of truth is your own real-time observation of conditions at the crag.

4. Account Registration

You may use the App without an account to view scores and forecasts. To post community reports or access personalized features, you must create an account using email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You may not share your account or use another person's account.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may only use the App with parental consent.

5. Account Deletion

You may permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Deletion removes your account, all condition reports you have posted, your avatar, and your Firebase Authentication entry. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

6. User-Generated Content

By posting condition reports, photos, or comments ("Content") through the App, you:

You may not post Content that is false, defamatory, harassing, threatening, obscene, infringing of third-party rights, or that violates any applicable law.

7. Community Standards & Moderation

CodClimb maintains a moderation queue. We reserve the right to remove Content, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms or our community standards. Content with 3 or more community reports is automatically hidden pending review.

To appeal a suspension or ban, contact codclimb@outlook.com. We aim to respond within 3 business days.

CodClimb is not responsible for user-generated Content and does not endorse any condition report. Always verify field conditions yourself.

8. Intellectual Property

The CodClimb name, logo, scoring algorithm, app design, and all non-user-generated content are proprietary to CodClimb and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the App or its scoring algorithm without written permission.

9. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:

We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services.

9a. Pricing

CodClimb is free to download and use, with no subscription and no in-app purchases. We may introduce optional paid features in the future; if we do, the price and terms will be shown clearly in the App before any purchase, and billing would be handled by Apple under the App Store terms.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CodClimb and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App — including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, or loss of data — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim, which, as the App is free to use, is $0.

11. Disclaimers

THE APP AND SITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT DATA WILL BE ACCURATE AT ALL TIMES.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
